I haven't been able to use my new Scout Feather yet, but here my initial impressions, as someone who is into fly fishing, paddle-boarding (and paddle-board fishing), hiking, camping, and knives. Over all, every element of this tool (knife, sheath, ferro rod, sharpener, and whistle) is well thought out and executed. The fit and finish are solid. I'm a form follows function person, and this tool is a shining example of that motto, but I want to give a special shout out to the handle on this knife. I don't think it could fit my hand any better than it does. I have one minor issue with this tool, and that is the belt clip. It holds the sheath a little *too* well, meaning it's not easy to remove the sheath when I want to. This has implications for using the ferro rod and sharper. In addition, with all my outdoor pursuits, I have 3 packs and a PFD that I would need to carry the knife on. I think time and use will provide a solution to that problem. All in all, I would definitely recommend the Scout Feather.

After 2 months of heavy use it’s held up perfectly. I’m a agricultural fencer as this is my new every day carry, loads of different applications for this knife

This small gadget has several handy little aspects that I presume work as intended. However, I bought it for the sparker, and I'm disappointed that, though it throws sparks, I can't get it to light dry paper. I was hoping to replace the often useless butane fireplace lighters with something that didn't require fuel, but...no. Back to matches.
Thank you for leaving a review for our Firebiner. We're glad to hear that you find the Firebiner features useful. Sparks from Firebiner can light dry paper if the fibers of the paper are exposed. The best way to accomplish this is tear the paper and cast sparks onto the exposed fibers. Toilet paper and paper towels light more easily than copier paper because the fibers are especially loose and easily exposed when torn and pulled apart. Copier paper also ignites if it is torn down enough to let the sparks hit open fibers. Hope that is helpful. Thanks again for your review and feedback.
This is a well thought out and put together product. This is just what I was looking for. This is a quality knife, well balanced, sharp and durable. My ultra light friends may think it heavy… I think it’s just right.
Thank you for your kind review of our Scout Feather Adventure Survival Knife! We are so glad to hear that it met all your expectations! We appreciate your support and hope you continue to enjoy your adventures with our knife. Happy exploring!
I love the direction they went with this knife. It's very well rounded and feel great in my hand. The sheath incorporating the sharpener into it was awesome and so handy. The fire rod is a great addition but mite brake off at the threads on the rod it is a soft metal not sure there much you can do about it but I did find it easy to take a die and just rethread the rod maybe gen two can just have a spot in the sheath for it to pop in and out of maybe? sure a guy could always mount one to it himself if he has to I suppose. All in all for the price it is a knife that's dose a lot for it's size and not the end of the world if you do brake it or lose it and your whole pack in the river lol.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're thrilled you love the knife’s design, comfort, and the handy sheath with the built-in sharpener.
Based on feedback like yours about the ferro rod, we will add a slot at the threaded end in future production runs so that if it breaks, the remaining piece can be easily removed with a standard screwdriver. Replacement ferro rods are also available on our site if needed.
Thanks again for sharing your experience and ideas. Your input helps us improve and continue creating gear for every adventure!
