I actually gave this blade and the Phoenix Feather to my nephew who is beginning to really get into hunting. He was ecstatic to get the knives and loved the gut hook and finger hole and knew immediately that the two could be set up together. He is one happy hunter! Thank you Mike!!!
Thank you for your positive feedback! We're thrilled to hear that your nephew loved the Phoenix Talon Survival Hunting Knife and Phoenix Feather. We hope he has many successful hunts using the knives. We'd love to see pics! Happy Hunting!
The only complaints I have about this knife are that the listed blade hardness is slightly off, and that I wish there were attachment points on the outer side of the sheath so it could be worn inside the pocket. I cpuld tell from sharpening the knife that the steel was softer than the 58-60 listed, so I tested it with an at-home test and it tested in the high 40s to low 50s. This hardness is perfectly fine for this price point, and nearly every knife in this price range Iāve tested has been around this hardness.
Thanks for sharing the details of your testingāwe really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. Our quality control process includes batch hardness testing: for every 100 knives produced, a swatch of the same steel and thickness follows the batch and is measured to confirm it meets our Rockwell hardness specification. We know how critical hardness is in a blade; too hard and it can become brittle, too soft and it requires more frequent sharpening. At-home hardness tests are useful for general comparison, but they can vary quite a bit depending on surface finish, test method, and whether theyāre reading surface vs. core hardness. Because of that, they often read lower than calibrated Rockwell testing. Weāre checking in with our manufacturing partner to verify hardness on our end as well. Carry options are also important to us, so we offer a pocket carry clip for the scout sheath. Thanks again for taking the time to share this and for the 5-star review of Scout Feather. Happy adventuring!
This flipper deploys easily and smoothly. Sorry, I just can't get a thumb stub to work for me, flippers are great. Plus, unlike an open assist, it is not going to potentially open in your pocket. The safety factor can be important. It feels good in the hand; however, the jimping can hang up on your pocket when pulling it out if you are not experienced.
They engraved it for me as a special offer.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of Quick Feather. We appreciate your feedback about the jimping and will definitely take it into account in manufacturing more. Thank you for the five-star review and we hope you enjoy your knife for years to come. We appreciate you!
Engraving was very nice. Just the right size and not so āboldā that it detracts from the overall look of the knife.
Thank you for leaving such a positive review for our custom engraving. We are thrilled to hear that you were pleased with the size and subtlety of the engraving on your knife. Thanks so much!
OUTSTANDING knife. Bought one a a Christmas gift for a friend and decided why not one for myself. We hunt ducks a lot here in South Florida. Perfect field cleaning knife. I have mine fixed to the shoulder strap of my dry bag. Have already used it to cut off a fouled line in the trolling motor and remove a ājammedā shell in a fellow hunters shotgun. Sheās a winner.
Thank you for your amazing review! We are thrilled to hear that the Scout Feather Adventure Survival Knife has been a reliable and versatile tool for your hunting adventures. We truly appreciate your support and hope you and your friend continue to enjoy Scout Feather. Happy hunting!
