Scout Feather Adventure Survival Knife

Awarded BEST SURVIVAL KNIFE by Backpacker Magazine!

What makes Scout Feather the best EDC knife and a must for camping, adventure, hunting, fishing, and survival?

It's got to be that it is so much more than just a knife. Not only does it cut, it also sparks fire, sharpens in the field, and signals for help.

SCOUT FEATHER: EDC Drop Point Blade

A scout is prepared; a scout knows the environment and loves the outdoors. Confidence radiates from a scout. Welcome to the Scout Feather -- the ideal tool in the quiver of preparedness. This small and mighty blade cuts, sparks fire, sharpens, and signals.

That's four Elements of Adventure so you can Explore with Confidence!

4 ELEMENTS FOR ADVENTURE

CUT: Confidently cut with this small yet mighty blade. From camp kitchen to campfire, Scout is nimble enough to whittle, strong enough to baton.

Scout Feather's drop point traditional profile and saber grind make this little fixed blade incredibly sharp and strong. With exceptional durability, Scout chops, cuts, and pierces with ease. It's the ultimate camp culinary knife and so much more. Scout takes a beating and retains a razor-sharp edge.

COMBUSTION: Throw generous sparks by striking the 90-degree spine against the hex-shaped, threaded ferrocerium rod integrated into the sheath.

SIGNAL: Be loud. Be found. A loud, 115b safety whistle is attached to the butt of the knife on a reflective mini lanyard strung through the hex driver.

SHARPEN: A sharp knife is a safe knife. Hone the blade on the go using the ceramic honing V notch in the sheath.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

DRIVE: Tighten or replace the threaded 1/4” hex ferro rod using the built-in driver. The sheath is fully threaded so the ferro rod can be inserted backward, providing additional purchase/grip in holding the sheath and striking the knife's spine against the ferro rod.

CARRY OPTIONS: Multiple carry options make Scout Feather secure and accessible. The form-fitted, secure-lock sheath features a heavy-duty clip, specifically designed to fit 3/4" webbing (common size of sternum straps on backpacks). MOLLE compatible. Or wear Scout Feather as a neck knife by threading the cordage of your choice (we suggest our custom survival cord) through the two larger sheath rivets. Scout Feather is lightweight (2.3 oz unsheathed, 4.0 oz sheathed) and easy to carry. Now includes additional belt clip and hardware.

GIFT IDEAS: Ideal for any outdoor enthusiast, whether novice or expert, for men, and women, EDC, cooking, fishing, camping, hiking, and bushcraft, stored in your emergency kit in the car or bug-out bag, so you’re ready for any outdoor adventure or emergency. Unique gift for the man or woman in your life that has everything. Give it for Christmas, as a stocking stuffer, or for any other holiday, birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or other occasion such as a wedding, graduation or thank you gift for a coach, mentor, teacher, friend, or neighbor.

WISE OWL GLOW OPTION: Available in a fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark handle option and a GLOW whistle.

Did you know an owl's feathers fluoresce? Now your Scout Feather can too with the 'Wise Owl' Glow Option!

OD GREEN OPTION: Available with a blackened blade, an OD Green handle, orange whistle, and light gray sheath.

GRIM GRANITE LIMITED EDITION: This is the OD Green Option with custom-etched Grim Granite (by Gordon Crum) logo on the blackened blade, an OD Green handle, orange whistle, and light gray sheath. (Note: the lighting for our photo causes the blade to look darker than the OD Green Option but they are the same knife. Only difference is this one comes with the Grim Granite logo on one side of the blade.)

What's in a name?

Why is there a theme of feathers in the naming of the knives? Along with being lightweight and beautiful like these knives, feathers hearken back to my Native American heritage.  Read more here.

a gift for my son and hiking partner

I purchased this as a gift for my son and hiking partner. He has just received it, has not used it on trail yet. But, he loves the craftsmanship, the feel of it in his hand and the numerous features. I had it engraved for him and he really enjoys that personal touch.

Understood the Assignment

For a while I've been looking for an EDC knife that would accomplish a couple of personal preferences. I've wanted a fixed blade that would wear on my belt backside. It would also have a neck carry option that didn't weigh a lot and feel like it was pulling on my neck. I'd tried several that just never worked for me.

Enter the Scout Feather! Not only do I forget I'm carrying on my belt or around my neck, it is the perfect size to accomplish field tasks that other large knives are typically used for. Prior to purchasing, I had some concerns about durability and quality. I can tell you this knife is tough! It holds an edge very well, fits my large hand perfectly, and has the added benefits of an integrated sharpener and ferro rod.

You can't go wrong with this knife and the carry options it offers!

Thanks for the detailed 5-star review! We’re glad the Scout Feather checked all the boxes for you—lightweight, versatile, and tough. Appreciate you sharing how it’s working out in both belt and neck carry. Thanks for the pic too! Happy adventuring!

Wonderful knife

Blade comes amazingly sharp. I tried out the ferro rod and it works great. Not sure how the loudness of this whistle compares to others on the market, but this one is loud. Love the versatility of this knife. The belt clip seems very strong, and held to my belt while testing. Can't wait to try this out in the outdoors. Thanks Outdoor Element - quick shipping and great customer service.

Thanks for the awesome review! Glad to hear the blade, ferro rod, and whistle are all hitting the mark, and that the clip is holding strong. Can’t wait for you to get it out in the wild—keep us posted on how it does out there! We'd love to see pictures of your adventures with Scout Feather!
