In time

I really can’t comment on this because I bought it for future needs.

It looks like a perfect replacement for the hex fire steel (hfs) that came with the knife / sheath.

I can say that if I would need to replace the hfs I’d repurchase this item again.

throws a lot of spark

I just got my scout and feather with this fero rod. It throws a lot of spark and I love that it is threaded into the sheath. It is very unlikely to lose.
