5280 Magazine Highlights Outdoor Element's Innovative Tools
Outdoor Element
We're honored to be featured in the May 2025 issue of 5280 Magazine, which spotlights Outdoor Element's journey and our commitment to creating multifunctional, potentially lifesaving outdoor gear.
The article traces our origins back to 2012, when a hike up Mt. Yale inspired me to develop tools that ensure adventurers are prepared for the unexpected.
From that spark, I've designed products like the Firebiner—a carabiner equipped with a spark wheel, utility blade, bottle opener, and screwdriver—and the Fire Flute, a compact fire-starting kit with an emergency whistle. Our Scout Feather Adventure knife, featuring a sheath that doubles as a ferro rod, exemplifies our focus on functionality and safety and provides the ability to cut, spark fire, sharpen, and signal. Pretty much a survival kit you can wear on your belt, in a pocket, or around your neck as a neck knife.
In 2024, we experienced significant growth, doubling our revenue and moving into a new 1,600-square-foot warehouse in Englewood—the same building where I once worked as an aerospace engineer. This full-circle moment reinforces our dedication to innovation and resilience.
