What makes Flicker Feather the best EDC knife and a must for camping, adventure, woodworking, bushcraft, hunting, fishing, and survival?
It's got to be that it is so much more than just a knife. It not only cuts, but it also sparks fire, sharpens in the field, and signals for help.
FLICKER FEATHER: EDC Chisel Blade
The Northern Flicker is a woodpecker found in North America. Their chisel beaks have been known to torment my dad's cabin in Eastern Texas. How's that for name inspiration? This little chisel blade cuts, sparks fire, sharpens, and signals.
That's 4 Elements of Adventure so you can Explore with Confidence!
4 ELEMENTS FOR ADVENTURE
CUT:Confidently cut with this unique, small & mighty fixed blade. Flicker Feather's chisel blade is a unique tool - ideal for making a fine, straight cut and known for its strength, ease of sharpening, chopping, and cutting hole pattern. Use it for woodworking, bushcraft, and in the kitchen as your go-to camp culinary knife.
COMBUSTION: Throw generous sparks by striking the 90-degree spine against the hex-shaped, threaded ferrocerium rod integrated into the sheath.
SIGNAL: Be loud. Be found. A loud, 115b safety whistle is attached to the butt of the knife on a reflective mini lanyard strung through the hex driver.
SHARPEN: A sharp knife is a safe knife. Thanks to the 800-grit diamond sharpening plate built directly into the sheath, you can hone Flicker on the go.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES:
DRIVE:Tighten or replace the threaded 1/4” hex ferro rod using the built-in driver. The sheath is fully threaded so the ferro rod can be inserted backward, providing additional purchase/grip in holding the sheath and striking the knife's spine against the ferro rod.
CARRY OPTIONS:Multiple carry options make Flicker Feather secure and accessible. The form-fitted, secure-lock sheath features a heavy-duty clip, specifically designed to fit 3/4" webbing (common size of sternum straps on backpacks). MOLLE compatible. Or wear Flicker Feather as a neck knife by threading the cordage of your choice (we suggest our custom survival cord) through the two larger sheath rivets. Flicker Feather is lightweight (2.3 oz unsheathed, 4.2 oz sheathed) and easy to carry. Now includes additional belt clip and hardware.
GIFT IDEAS: Ideal for any outdoor enthusiast, whether novice or expert, for men, and women, EDC, cooking, fishing, camping, hiking, and bushcraft, stored in your emergency kit in the car or bug-out bag, so you’re ready for any outdoor adventure or emergency. Unique gift for the man or woman in your life that has everything. Give it for Christmas, as a stocking stuffer, or for any other holiday, birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or other occasion such as a wedding, graduation or thank you gift for a coach, mentor, teacher, friend, or neighbor.
BLADE ANGLE OPTIONS:Available with a right-handed grind to the blade, or a left-handed grind.
WISE OWL GLOW OPTION:Available in a fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark handle option and a GLOW whistle.
Did you know an owl's feathers fluoresce? Now your Scout Feather can too with the 'Wise Owl' Glow Option!
What's in a name?
Why is there a theme of feathers in the naming of the knives? Along with being lightweight and beautiful like these knives, feathers hearken back to my Native American heritage. Read more here.

I got this for my husband after I showed him my Scout Feather. This is absolutely his style and he loves it. It's such a cool blade and of course, love all the survival add-ons like the whistle, sharpener and ferro rod. Excellent product and excellent shipping and excellent company!
Scout Feather for you and Flicker Feather for him—now that’s what we call a power couple! Glad he’s loving it. Thanks so much for your kind words and taking time to leave a review. Most of all thanks for letting OE be part of your adventurous duo. 🔥 Happy adventures ahead!

Addendum to my previous review
I had left my previous 4-star review, and was contacted very quickly by their customer service. I was sent, free of charge, another sheath for my Flicker. Even if the new sheath hadn't fixed the "rattling" problem (which it did), I would still have updated my rating to 5 stars for such outstanding customer service. A great little knife from a company that stands behind their product. Good job!
Thank you for taking the time to send a reivew and and update. We're so glad to hear the new sheath remedied the problem and that we could be of help. Send us some pics of your adventures with Flicker Feather. Happy adventuring!

Love this knife
I absolutely love this little knife. I use it around the house to break down boxes, in my shop to chisel out pieces of wood, in my garden to clip off tomato suckers, and of course back packing. I've been searching for the same knife only a little bigger. This knife holds its sharpness even after constant use. I love it. This is now my favorite knife out of a plethora of cutting instruments. Well done.
Thank you so much for your positive review! We are thrilled to hear that our Flicker Feather Survival EDC Chisel Blade has become your go-to knife for various tasks around the house, in your shop, backpacking and even gardening! Thanks for sharing how useful Flicker is for everyday use. We appreciate you and your support!

Exactly as advertised
The knife is just what the brochure led me to believe. It's small and light enough that it will get carried on backcountry trips and day hikes closer to home....every time. A video demonstrating the best method for extracting the knife from the hard sheath would be helpful. I might be old but I'm not weak and I struggled mightily to remove the knife the first time.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Flicker Feather Survival EDC Chisel Blade. We're glad to hear that the knife met your expectations and that it will be a reliable companion on your outdoor adventures. We appreciate your suggestion for a video demonstration and will definitely look into creating one. Thank you for your feedback and happy trails!

Lightweight Companion Knife
I will start with what I liked. I backed the Kickstarter, and received my knife very quickly. I like the weight and compactness of the knife and sheath. I can clip it inside my pocket like a folder and not even notice it's there. The ferro rod throws a lot of sparks.
The handle is a little small, and can get uncomfortable in my hands, but that may be just a personal preference. My biggest complaint is that I bought it to use it as a boot knife, and within a week of wearing it that way, I noticed that the sheath had somehow gotten looser around the blade, and now it was rattling. Not that the blade could fall out, it was very firmly held in the sheath. But the knife could "wiggle" inside the sheath, causing it to rattle. Not sure how this happened.
Overall, a nice companion knife to take with you instead of a folder, with some very good features.
We appreciate your feedback on our Flicker Feather Survival EDC Chisel Blade. We're glad to hear that you received your knife quickly and that you like its lightweight and compact design, the ferro rod and other features. Thank you for bringing the sheath becoming loose to our attention. We haven't encountered that before and we'd like to make it right for you. Thank you for choosing our product as your companion knife and for supporting us through Kickstarter!
I purchased this as a gift for my son and hiking partner. He has just received it, has not used it on trail yet. But, he loves the craftsmanship, the feel of it in his hand and the numerous features. I had it engraved for him and he really enjoys that personal touch.
This is exactly what I needed after I send a screw flying across the room. I know better I was just careless. Luckily the crew at OE has me covered. Great products with spare parts for when I mess up.
Glad we had you covered! OE founder & CEO, Mike Mojica, is a mechanical engineer and knows the value of having spare parts handy. We want your gear to last a lifetime and always perform at its best. Thanks for the great review and glad to hear you were able to get the parts you needed.
For a while I've been looking for an EDC knife that would accomplish a couple of personal preferences. I've wanted a fixed blade that would wear on my belt backside. It would also have a neck carry option that didn't weigh a lot and feel like it was pulling on my neck. I'd tried several that just never worked for me.
Enter the Scout Feather! Not only do I forget I'm carrying on my belt or around my neck, it is the perfect size to accomplish field tasks that other large knives are typically used for. Prior to purchasing, I had some concerns about durability and quality. I can tell you this knife is tough! It holds an edge very well, fits my large hand perfectly, and has the added benefits of an integrated sharpener and ferro rod.
You can't go wrong with this knife and the carry options it offers!
Thanks for the detailed 5-star review! We’re glad the Scout Feather checked all the boxes for you—lightweight, versatile, and tough. Appreciate you sharing how it’s working out in both belt and neck carry. Thanks for the pic too! Happy adventuring!
