Awarded BEST SURVIVAL KNIFE by Backpacker Magazine!
What makes Scout Feather the best EDC knife and a must for camping, adventure, hunting, fishing, and survival?Ā
It's got to be that it is so much more than just a knife. Not only does it cut, it also sparks fire, sharpens in the field, and signals for help.
SCOUT FEATHER: EDC Drop Point Blade
A scout is prepared; a scout knows the environment and loves the outdoors. Confidence radiates from a scout. Welcome to the Scout Feather -- the ideal tool in the quiver of preparedness. This small and mighty blade cuts, sparks fire, sharpens, and signals.
That's four Elements of Adventure so you can Explore with Confidence!
4 ELEMENTS FOR ADVENTURE
CUT: Confidently cut with this small yet mighty blade. From camp kitchen to campfire, Scout is nimble enough to whittle, strong enough to baton.Ā Ā
Scout Feather's drop point traditional profile and saber grind make this little fixed blade incredibly sharp and strong. With exceptional durability, Scout chops, cuts, and pierces with ease. It's the ultimate camp culinary knife and so much more. Scout takes a beating and retains a razor-sharp edge.
COMBUSTION: Throw generous sparks by striking the 90-degree spine against the hex-shaped, threaded ferrocerium rod integrated into the sheath.
SIGNAL: Be loud. Be found. A loud, 115b safety whistle is attached to the butt of the knife on a reflective mini lanyard strung through the hex driver.
SHARPEN: A sharp knife is a safe knife. Hone the blade on the go using the ceramic honing V notch in the sheath.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES:
DRIVE:Ā Tighten or replace the threaded 1/4ā hex ferro rod using the built-in driver. The sheath is fully threaded so the ferro rod can be inserted backward, providing additional purchase/grip in holding the sheath and striking the knife's spine against the ferro rod.
CARRY OPTIONS:Ā Multiple carry options make Scout Feather secure and accessible. The form-fitted, secure-lock sheath features a heavy-duty clip, specifically designed to fit 3/4" webbing (common size of sternum straps on backpacks). MOLLE compatible. Or wear Scout Feather as a neck knife by threading the cordage of your choice (we suggest ourĀ custom survival cord) through the two larger sheath rivets. Scout Feather is lightweight (2.3 oz unsheathed, 4.0 oz sheathed) and easy to carry. Now includes additional belt clip and hardware.
GIFT IDEAS:Ā Ideal for any outdoor enthusiast, whether novice or expert, for men, and women, EDC, cooking, fishing, camping, hiking, and bushcraft, stored in your emergency kit in the car or bug-out bag, so youāre ready for any outdoor adventure or emergency. Unique gift for the man or woman in your life that has everything. Give it for Christmas, as a stocking stuffer, or for any other holiday, birthday, Motherās Day, Fatherās Day, or other occasion such as a wedding, graduation or thank you gift for a coach, mentor, teacher, friend, or neighbor.
WISE OWL GLOW OPTION:Available in a fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark handle option and a GLOW whistle.Ā
Did you know an owl's feathers fluoresce? Now your Scout Feather can too with the 'Wise Owl' Glow Option!
OD GREEN OPTION:Available with a blackened blade, an OD Green handle, orange whistle, and light gray sheath.
What's in a name?Ā
Why is there a theme of feathers in the naming of the knives? Along with being lightweight and beautiful like these knives, feathers hearken back to my Native American heritage.Ā Read more here.

Recently started carrying a fixed blade in addition to an assisted folder and wanted a knife with good steel and the VG10 met that requirement. Really like the knife but not so much the sheath as received it was way too tight. When I realized what was causing that I fixed that and am well pleased. The clip (?) that holds the ferrous rod pinches the side of the sheath at the top, removed that and the tension is perfect. Well pleased with this product
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Scout Feather. We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the knife. We appreciate the feedback about the sheath and will look into the cause of that issue. Glad you were able to adjust it and hope it continues to serve you well on your adventures. Happy adventuring!

Adding to my 10/28/2025 review
Finally got back in the wild again and had a great time with my Scout. I had matches, but I lit our campfire and camp stoves with the Scout because its so darn fun. Used the whistle to signal fellow campers who explored other trails.
Don't overlook all this quality, utility, and great customer service for under 70 bucks! It's awesome!
These make great gifts. My nephews loved the Scout I gave them for Christmas.
Grab a Scout for your belt/pack and a Slicer for your kitchen set. Get out and have some fun!
Wowāthank you so much for coming back to share this (and for the photos and video!). Itās awesome to hear the Scout getting real use againāfire starting, signaling, and just having fun out there is exactly what it was made for. We love that youāre passing them on as gifts too, and that your nephews are enjoying theirs. Truly appreciate the kind words and your supportāthanks for taking us along on your adventures.

Great knife for the price
The only complaints I have about this knife are that the listed blade hardness is slightly off, and that I wish there were attachment points on the outer side of the sheath so it could be worn inside the pocket. I cpuld tell from sharpening the knife that the steel was softer than the 58-60 listed, so I tested it with an at-home test and it tested in the high 40s to low 50s. This hardness is perfectly fine for this price point, and nearly every knife in this price range Iāve tested has been around this hardness.
Thanks for sharing the details of your testingāwe really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. Our quality control process includes batch hardness testing: for every 100 knives produced, a swatch of the same steel and thickness follows the batch and is measured to confirm it meets our Rockwell hardness specification. We know how critical hardness is in a blade; too hard and it can become brittle, too soft and it requires more frequent sharpening. At-home hardness tests are useful for general comparison, but they can vary quite a bit depending on surface finish, test method, and whether theyāre reading surface vs. core hardness. Because of that, they often read lower than calibrated Rockwell testing. Weāre checking in with our manufacturing partner to verify hardness on our end as well. Carry options are also important to us, so we offer a pocket carry clip for the scout sheath. Thanks again for taking the time to share this and for the 5-star review of Scout Feather. Happy adventuring!

OUTSTANDING Knife
OUTSTANDING knife. Bought one a a Christmas gift for a friend and decided why not one for myself. We hunt ducks a lot here in South Florida. Perfect field cleaning knife. I have mine fixed to the shoulder strap of my dry bag. Have already used it to cut off a fouled line in the trolling motor and remove a ājammedā shell in a fellow hunters shotgun. Sheās a winner.
Thank you for your amazing review! We are thrilled to hear that the Scout Feather Adventure Survival Knife has been a reliable and versatile tool for your hunting adventures. We truly appreciate your support and hope you and your friend continue to enjoy Scout Feather. Happy hunting!
This is a great little set for on the trail or at camp. Fits about anywhere. Works as a plate for uneven surfaces. Put it on a rock, a stump, some pine needles. Convenient to have a toothbrush right there.
Thanks for the great review of omni-tensil. We're thrilled to hear that it has made your outdoor experiences more convenient. And we totally agree, having a toothbrush right there is definitely a game changer. Happy trails!
I got one of these. Light and compact. The sponge dries quickly. I lay the towel out on some pine needles as a plate for fruits, vegetables, and utensils. Then hang the towel on my pack to dry. Great gift for any kind of camping. Affordable, useful, great stocking stuffers at Christmas!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a positive review for our scrub 'n scrape. Love the ways you use it! Thanks for your support!
I recently picked up a few of these handy pocket clips for my Scout knives. So far I'm liking these a lot better than the standard clip that comes with these knives. It was super easy to change out and makes carrying your knife in your pocket much easier.
Outdoor Element is just making their products better as they go.
We're so glad to hear that you are enjoying our pocket carry clip for your scout feather! Happy adventuring!
Fiber Light is slick! It ignites so easy. I use it to light my charcoal grill. Ignite it with my Scout Feather, scoop it with the knife into the grill, set the chimney of charcoal on top. No problem lighting it on a windy wet day out in the wild. You can see in my video it has no problem staying lit in the wind.
Starting fires is fun, but while camping you want to start the fire and move on. Fiber Light lights so fast, and stays lit long enough to ignite the rest of your kindling. If you have an OE knife or Firebiner, you should grab a few of these.
Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Fiber Light Original. We are so glad to hear that you found it quick and easy to use. Thank you for choosing OE, and happy camping!
