Tried homemade. NO! Exactly what I needed. My trash/recycling company is happy to take empties. I'm over 70 with limited upper body strength. This punches through the top or the side edges easily. Only suggestion is to warn user to release residual propane slowly from cylinder as the adapter attaches.[I may have missed that in the instructions.] Great product.
